Have you ever had a friend you respected, whose life choices you admired because you could never do as she did – quit her job, be a full-time mom, not have any help at all, and still maintain a semblance of sanity? Well, I did. This friend of mine was all those things. OK, perhaps “friend” is the wrong word to describe my relationship with this woman; after all, I only met her twice or thrice, and we were more acquaintances than friends in the typical sense of the word. Anyway, I lost touch with this person for a few years, only to rediscover her again about one or two years ago when I stumbled across her blog. Boy, has she …

We sold the house!

Yes, we did! And at an AMAZING price too. K and I are so, so thankful to God for blessing us so richly in this whole house-moving endeavour. If you’ve been following this whole saga, you’ll know that we recently bought a house in the East, and since then have been a little anxious about all the things that go along with moving like looking for schools for the girls and whether we could get a good price for our house because even though the property market is really hot right now, the location of our house is not. We needn’t have worried, because God had it all planned out for us! First, He got Zoe’s school sorted out. The …

A father’s love.

Alison bought a cheap and flowery pair of slippers in Phuket, after complaining that her Ipa-Nima sandals were cutting into the space between her big toe and second toe. She adores them. Unfortunately, so does Bryan. He managed to get his paws on the left slipper over the weekend, and had a grand time chewing it. I caught him before he destroyed the slipper completely, but some damage was done, and Alison’s eyes reddened when I told her about it. To appease her, K said he would find a way to mend the slipper and he did, using red duct tape that he made a special trip to the hardware store to buy. I was touched by the effort that …

Five years on.

Reading about someone’s new business endeavour made me think back to when K first left the agency he had started with the backing of a local ad agency tycoon because he was so disillusioned and unhappy with said tycoon’s business ethics. I was freelancing as a writer at the time, and we had debts and a toddler to look after. Those were hairy days for our little family because K was earning a good salary and giving that up for nothing was terrifying. But I understood his need to get out, even if it meant plunging into penury. Our situation made us lean a lot on God, praying every day for Him to make a way for us, especially K …

Faithful God

I first heard this song last year, when it was sung in church as the offering song. It touched me so much that I just had to find it, but searching on the Internet using just snippets of the lyrics yielded nothing. Gradually, I forgot about it, until this afternoon when I was at Trumpet Praise during lunchtime to browse for new music. An album entitled “Faithful God” caught my eye and jogged my memory – could this be the album I had been looking for? I asked the salesgirl to play the title track and it was! This song is just beautiful, and I want to share it with you. Faithful God by Shannon Wexelberg (Verse) Faithful God, ever …
