Saturday morning at the track.
Alison didn’t have Kumon class this morning so I decided to haul ass and go to the track with K. When we got there, he realised that none of his students would be showing up for coaching for various reasons. So we set off on a ride around the mountain bike trail. I haven’t been on my bike in a very long time, and it was nice to be riding again. Made K laugh a few times by squealing my way down TINY slopes. I was a bit chicken because my helmet is in his office and so my noggin was unprotected. Didn’t feel like cracking it open on a rock or getting up close and personal with a tree!
K had to correct my pedal technique when going over obstacles because I caught my right pedal a few times on pieces of rock which of course would throw me off balance. When we got back to the open area near the car park, he threw a couple of cones on the ground and asked me to show him my cornering skills. I think he might have been a bit surprised at what I can do on the bike. Heh. But I still don’t qualify to use “z” in place of the second “s” in “skills”. See my point about pedal technique.
K was good for two or three rounds on the BMX track after that, so I sat at the starting point to watch him and take a few shots on his iPhone. Then we headed to a nearby bike shop to figure out what was wrong with my rear derailleur (I was having problems shifting gears) and ended up replacing the chain. Hope that fixes the problem.

K teaches biking? Looks like fun, this track.
He’s coaching kids for BMX but will also teach adults cycle skills if anyone’s interested.
